We are pleased to announce our fourth thrifter ambassador to join the team is Beth, AKA Betty's Style Stories (@bettys.style.stories on Instagram).

What got you interested in pre-loved/secondhand clothes?

I have always bought from second hand shops, especially charity shops, since a teenager. I love hunting for bargains and helping a good cause.

What do you love about charity shops?

I love the variety, how you can find individual pieces, that it helps the planet and a charity and it is often good quality items for a good price.

Favourite charity shop?

Shelter

What do you typically shop for in charity shops?

Clothes, fabric for sewing, home accessories, books

Any purchase that stand-out as being particularly special or memorable?

I bought a beautiful original leather jacket from the 1980s from the hospice who cared for my mother in law at the end of her life. She loved charity shopping and my interest in it, so every time I wear it, I feel closer to her.

Do you get preloved items from anywhere else?

Vinted, and flea markets.

What advice would you have for people who are interested in switching out their shopping habits to buy more secondhand clothing?

1. You can wash things and restore them.

2. Make a list of what you need before you go into a charity shop to try and help stop impulse purchases.

3. Posh streets often have posh items.

Why did you decide to become an ambassador for Clothing Collective?

I just finished working in a social housing company and understand the value of helping those without a home. I also love working with causes that feel important and help those most in need. And I also love fashion. So it ticked all those boxes

What are you hoping you will be able to do as an ambassador for us?

Promote your cause and help breakdown barriers about buying secondhand.
