Volunteer Profile: Freddie Rolls

To celebrate Volunteers Week 2026, we're publishing another Volunteer Profile, shining the light on one of our volunteers who give up their time to help our mission.

Meet Freddie Rolls - a writer who is part of our Insights team and helps to draw attention to important topics, including clothing poverty and body image in youth, sustainable fashion initiatives and how defining clothing poverty is a multi-layered issue.

Here's a Q&A with Freddie where you can read more about his background and role here at Clothing Collective.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

I have recently graduated from the University of Greenwich with a Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing. Alongside my studies, I have worked in script development and editorial across various multimedia projects.

What inspired you to get involved with Clothing Collective?

After graduating from university, I was on the lookout for opportunities in which I could apply my creative skillset. Joining Clothing Collective seemed like a no-brainer: it has given me the opportunity to develop my skillset, whilst simultaneously contributing to an incredibly important cause.

What kind of volunteering work do you do here?

I work as a writer and researcher for Clothing Collective’s ‘Insights’ page. I help to develop and write articles with a particular focus on clothing poverty, leading with data and extracting critical and actionable conclusions.

What are you looking forward to most about volunteering with us?

The earliest thing I realised when joining the ‘Insights’ team was how surprisingly little is out there on the Internet about clothing poverty! So, knowing that the articles I help to produce is giving a platform and voice to such a serious issue is and continues to be the most rewarding part of my role with Clothing Collective.

How does volunteering fit into your life outside of the charity?

My work with Clothing Collective complements my full-time job as a Content Executive. The lessons learned from my time with Clothing Collective so far, from SEO optimisation to writing impactful, hard-hitting content, are skills I will carry with me throughout my wider career.

Why do you think the work Clothing Collective does is important?

From my earliest research within the ‘Insights’ team, I realised just how little people are talking about clothing poverty (as opposed to other types of poverty). Not only is Clothing Collective helping those in need directly through their gift cards, but they are leading the charge in spreading awareness on this issue.

What would you say to someone thinking about volunteering here?

Working with Clothing Collective will enrich you personally and professionally. I can say confidently that the experience I have gained through the charity is what led to me securing full-time work after university. To have gained this experience whilst contributing to such a worthy cause will always be incredibly meaningful to me.

Has this inspired you to get involved and volunteer for us? Complete the form on this page and we can match you to any vacancies that arise.
