Following on from Volunteers' Week back in June, where we celebrated it by profiling some of our volunteers, here's an interview with one of our other volunteers, which is a chance to celebrate and recognise their contributions.
Izzy Brookes started volunteering with Clothing Collective earlier this year, helping us to create content for our social media.
Here's a Q&A with Izzy that explores more about her involvement with Clothing Collective.
Izzy Brookes

Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?
I currently work as a social researcher and have an academic background in Psychology, which I love using to support charities across the UK. I'm especially passionate about using behavioural science and communication to drive positive social and environmental change.
What inspired you to get involved with us?
I’ve always been interested in tackling social issues and climate change, and Clothing Collective brings these two passions together in such an innovative way. The idea of providing people with dignified access to clothing through charity shop gift cards really resonated with me as it’s not only practical, but empowering, and rooted in sustainability.
What kind of volunteering work do you do?
I volunteer as a social media content creator, supporting the Marketing and Communications team. I help to design posts, write captions, and develop ideas that raise awareness around clothing poverty, second-hand fashion, and the environmental impact of fast fashion.
How are you feeling about volunteering with us?
I’m excited to support such an amazing cause and to connect with like-minded people who care deeply about sustainability and social justice.
How does volunteering fit into your life outside of the charity?
I make time in the evenings and at the weekend for Volunteering. It is great to give time to such an amazing cause. It fits naturally into my lifestyle, especially as I have bought solely second-hand clothes for the past five years.
Why do you think the work Clothing Collective does is important?
Clothing insecurity is an often overlooked form of poverty. The work Clothing Collective does is a brilliant example of how we can tackle social inequality and environmental impact at the same time!
What would you say to someone thinking about volunteering with us?
Go for it! Whether you're passionate about fashion, social justice, or sustainability, there’s something incredibly meaningful about contributing to a cause that tackles all three.
On behalf of Clothing Collective, we would like to say a big 'thank you' to Izzy (and all of our wonderful volunteers).
