Our fundraisers are critical to helping us with our mission to provide clothing for people in need. Whether it's one of the people who has taken part in a sponsored event - like Joel and Lee did in the Shakespeare Half Marathon - or a group organising an event to raise funds - like the London College of Fashion students did when they made bags from discarded denim and sold them.
To make fundraising easier, we recently switched to Just Giving as our donation platform. This is used as our main way for people to give a regular or one-off donation to us on our website, but also for people who want to fundraise.
Why JustGiving?
JustGiving is an established and trusted platform for charities and individuals to use for donations and fundraising.
Here's a few reasons why it's a great platform for fundraising:
It's easy to use - it's been designed to be really straightforward to use, with pre-built templates that mean you only need to enter a small amount of information.
It's sociable - you can share your fundraising page easily with your friends and family.
You can message your donors and thank them for their contributions, plus update them on your fundraising progress.
Whoever you think might support you, you just need to send them a single link to your page and they can then donate.
It handles all of the donations - this means you are not having to collect and transfer money, as people simply donate direct to JustGiving.
How to set-up a JustGiving fundraising page
If you're going to do something to fundraise for us - whether that's run a challenge event, organise your own second-hand clothing sale or something else - then you can create a JustGiving page in just a few minutes.
Here's a video that shows you just how easy it is to create your own fundraising page.
Once you've created your page you can then share it with friends and family, plus manage your donations.
